Counsel" taking stock of our lives, and seeking to bring us to justice (Jeremiah 17:10)! Believe me, there is no stone left unturned, nor defense attorney smart enough, to out-wit this final Judge. We may kid our neighbor. We may live in a fine, respectable neighborhood. We may drive the finest car, and have the world's most prominent awards (or "peace prize")—but unless we deal with this Prosecutor we will never rest in peace.

Most try to do what our President has done: ignore the matter, and hope it  will all goe away. Maybe they can even accuse the Judge, and make God look like the villain, for ruining our "fun". But you see, God isn't like Ken Starr. He isn't like the justices on the Supreme Court–for He is also the Judge who loves us.

Now, don't get me wrong. God will judge sin, because sin is destructive: it unravels the moral universe and (believe it or not) the physical world rests upon the integrity of God's own word. He spoke the worlds into being (Genesis 1) and the very universe stands on the strength of that word.

That is the same "word" which became flesh, and lived among us (yes, God can do such things -John 1:1-3,14) "and we beheld his glory . . . full of grace and truth," (John 1:14). This is the same One, who created the physical universe now holds it together by the same word of His power (Heb. 1:3, Col. 1:17). Just as a home is more easily held together when the words creating the marriage (marriage vows) are honored and faithfully carried out–so too, the soundness of the physical universe stands on the very authority (and integrity) of Almighty God.

So, if God were to excuse sin for you, and violate His own goodness for you—we'd all loose.
If we believe not, yet He abideth faithful: He cannot deny himself. (II Timothy 2:13)

With one exception: if He were to be able to humble Himself to mortal flesh, and walk under (beneath) His own Godhood (as a man)–then He might stand in, for you (take your place) . . . But, the penalty for sin is death. Which presents another problem.

Lawful social order requires the punishment of known criminals, and for capital offences, the disbursement of a capital punishment. Since God is greater than man (and our Creator) and man's offense/sin is against God—sin is a capital crime.
Whew! Who would "stand in" for me, in a capital offense?

The Lord, Jesus Christ.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

{Romans 5:7,8}

Incredible, now that is love! So that today, whether or not our public officials "dodge the bullet" and "get away with murder"—the one Judge who ultimately matters (and cannot be hoodwinked) has made a way of escape for those willing to plead "guilty" without reservation (and repent) before going to trial.
He offers a pardon. More, He offers a new life (because he can do that. He is God -II Corinthians 5:17) And He offers you an eternal Home—not in the White House—but in Heaven (John 14:2).

This offer expires at (physical) death, and while tomorrow is not promised to any of us, today, you may avail yourself of it (Hebrews 9:27,28). What will you do with this offer?

Remember, the truth matters. Come clean with God, confess your sin, and ask Jesus into your life, today. You may do so, by praying something like this:

"Lord Jesus, thank You for making it possible for me to walk with You, in truth. Please forgive, and cleanse me of, my sin, and sinful ways, and come
into my heart.
Save me, now, and make me Your very own. Thank You, Lord Jesus.
Amen."
