[Prayer]

Hi! Welcome to the starting point of eternal life (repentance & prayer)

(Luke 18:13,14)

Please understand, that praying this prayer will not, in itself, save you.  You must fulfil the requirement of scripture, by believing in Christ Jesus as Savior and Lord (see How May I be Born Again).

This prayer, therefore, is a point of faith—a starting point, where we submit to the Savior's love, and commit our souls to His keeping. It is this step of faith ("believing") which brings into salvation, as Christ accepts us into His fellowship, which He has paid for with His blood, in the real world, when He entered human history to die a painful death on the old rugged Cross, on Calvary's hill, and allow us back into the real Paradise (Heaven) (John 10:9, Revelation 2:7).

You must believe that Jesus Christ (the Son of God) came as a real man, within a real body, and died on a real Cross, so that you may be born again. In other words, God died on the Cross to save us (Acts 20:28). —The new birth comes when you believe in, and communicate, this truth which is stronger than any fiction, fantasy, or lie (John 14:6 , Romans 10:9-11).

. . .and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.
. . . You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

I John 4:3,4 nkj

When Christ comes into the believer's heart (Rev.3:20, John 14:23), eternal life has begun (John 17:3, I John 1:7-9) and the Holy Spirit will bear witness to (make us realize) the truth of this reality within us (Romans 8:16).  This is not necessarily an emotional experience.  Yet it is a real, and actual, transaction between ourselves, and the living God.

You might pray, therefore, something like this:

Lord God, I acknowledge my sin, and am sorry for my unrighteous deeds. Do be merciful to me, a sinner, and save me, for Jesus' sake.  I acknowledge You as my Lord and Savior, Jesus. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, with me, I'd love to hear from you.  Drop me a line at grace-n-peace@maranatha-min.net —and be ready for His soon Return!
